Dr Steven BoyceDirector of the Tissue Engineering Lab, Cincinnati Shriners Hospital Steven Boyce, Ph.D., received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where his doctoral studies in molecular cellular and developmental biology were completed in 1984, under the direction of Richard Ham, Ph.D. With John Hansbrough, M.D., of the department of surgery at the University of California at San Diego, Boyce developed a design for transplantation of skin substitutes for burns. In 1989, he was appointed to the department of surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and as director of the tissue engineering lab at the burn Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati. |

Dr Kenn DunnKenn Dunn initially trained in London and
was a trainee surgeon in a number of burn units in England, including
East Grinstead,
the Accident Hospital in Birmingham and the Odstock Unit in Salisbury.
He has been a Consultant Burns and Plastic Surgeon in Manchester, England
from 1996 and is Director of the Manchester Burn Service. Currently
he is Chairman of the British Burn Association, member of the Prevention
Committees of the EBA and BBA. |

Superintendent Andy Telfer OAMSuperintendent Andy Telfer OAM, joined the South Australian Police in January 1969 and was posted to metropolitan uniform patrol duties following his training. After a couple of years, he took up an opportunity to transfer to the area of forensic science and spent the next eighteen years involved in the investigation of serious crime scenes and the comparison of shoe and toolmarks. His role as a crime scene investigator introduced him to the field of disaster victim investigation (DVI) and, in his current position as Officer in Charge of the Forensic Services Branch, he is also the Stage DVI Commander. He has been Chair of the Australasian DVI Committee since March 2001 and played a key role in the coordination of the DVI response to Bali following the bombings on October 12 2002. He was the initial DVI Commander in Bali and has been involved in the post-operation reviews and the subsequent progression of initiatives to improve Australia’s DVI capability |

Dr Rajiv Sood Rajiv Sood MD holds the

Reg Richard, MS, PTReg Richard is a 1975 graduate of Northwestern University Physical Therapy Program, Chicago, Illinois and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton in 1984. He is a Burn Clinical Specialist at Miami Valley Hospital Regional Burn Center in Dayton, Ohio where he has been involved in burn care and rehabilitation as well as research his entire career of 28-plus years. Reg is a current member of the American Burn Association and International Association for Burn Injuries. He is a past member of the American Burn Association Board of Trustees and recipient of the Curtis P. Artz Distinguished Service Award from the American Burn Association in 2001. He has served on several ABA Committees including his present appointments to the Ethics Committee and Board Member on the Foundation for Education and Research. Reg has over 155 publications to his credit including 13 book chapters and Co-Editor of the textbook Burn Care and Rehabilitation: Principles and Practice. Currently he holds the position of Editor of the OT/PT Forum of the Journal of Burn Care and Rehabilitation. |
Maurissa Ailion is currently the Director, Staff Counselling and Consultancy Service and Clinical Director, C.I.S.M. response and procedures for the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she has been for 19 years. She is also the Principal Consultant, for Triumph Human Resources Consultants.
Her Qualifications include: M.Ed. (H.R.S.), B.A.S.W. (Psych., Group Work), J.P., Accredited C.I.S.M.F.A. group processes trainer, Registered E.M.D.R. Specialist, Accredited MBTI Trainer. Her professional affiliations include: Critical Incident Stress Management Foundation Australia Inc. Clare Thomas is a Senior Sister at the Regional Burn Unit in Birmingham. She specialises in paediatrics but is also adult trained. She is aware of research ethics and supports ongoing research in the Unit. She has vast 'hands on experience' of burn management techniques.

He was Consultant Paediatric
Surgeon Adelaide Children’s
Hospital and Consultant Paediatric Surgeon
Flinders Medical Centre. He retired in 2000 and is
now Emeritus Paediatric Surgeon at Womens and
Children’s Hospital, Adelaide.
Dr Davey was Burns Surgeon at WCH and FMC
from 1975 to 2002.
He is the author of numerous articles on Burns
and author of recent book on Hypafix and with
Kathryn Heath, physiotherapist, a book on Scar
Management. |
