For Rural General Practitioners

This GP Clinical Audit aims to improve patient care and outcomes through a systematic review of current practice and implementation of targeted strategies. It integrates reflection, self-directed learning, education and mentoring within the framework of an audit process. Participants will receive information and resources to guide them throughout the AUDIT journey. 
 

Audit timeframe

This 4-stage audit activity will be completed over 5 months from February - June 2026.
 

Mandatory requirements

To successfully complete the audit and have CPD hours allocated, participants will:

  • Complete all 4 stages of the clinical audit
  • Complete the self-reflection surveys
  • Attend the 3 Group Learning Sessions from 7pm to 8.30pm on:
    1. Wednesday 25th February 2026
    2. Wednesday 13th May 2026
    3. Wednesday 17th June 2026

CPD Accreditation

This clinical audit has been submitted to RACGP and ACRRM for CPD approval.
 

Learning outcomes
 

  • Evaluate current clinical practice and processes for assessing and managing patients experiencing chronic non-cancer pain and opioid dependence
  • Identify patients at risk for delayed recovery and complications
  • Develop an action plan for implementation to improve patient-centred pain management by optimising referral pathways and collaboration with key stakeholders such as pain specialists and allied health professionals
  • Review and implement appropriate deprescribing practices to enhance patient safety and minimise opioid-related harms
  • Reflect on practice improvements and patient outcomes, incorporating feedback and outcomes to refine pain management strategies
