This is session will be held at Victor Harbor

The program is funded jointly by the NAHLN and SAPMEA EMET Programs
There is no cost to attend the evening and dinner will be included.
The workshops are open to all Medical officers, General Practitioners, Nurses and Paramedics working in Emergency Care settings

Each workshop is RACGP/ACRRM accredited and participants receive an attendance certificate for 3 hours of CPD. Additional CPD hours may be obtained with completion of the evening's online prelearning.

Topic : Paediatric Emergencies (same topic presented at 4 locations)

The evening workshop will examine the child presenting with a number of common life threatening presentations for serious illness including airway obstruction, respiratory distress, dehydration and fitting. The evening explores the clinical findings and red flags, immediate management priorities, differential diagnosis and emergency management. The topic is presented using a series of interactive clinical case discussions.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Differentiate the clinical findings, differential diagnosis and clinical management of acute airway obstruction in a child
  2. Prioritise the assessment, differential diagnosis and emergency management of the child with severe respiratory distress
  3. Summarise the assessment, differential diagnosis and fluid management in the child presenting with vomiting
  4. Discriminate the assessment, immediate treatment and differential diagnosis in the child presenting with fitting
