Medical officers, General Practitioners, Nurses and Paramedics working in Emergency Care settings are invited to attend this interactive workshop delivered through small and large group discussions of mental health emergency case scenarios.
Registration is required and as numbers for each session are limited please book early to avoid disappointment. Registration and networking will start from 5:30pm with the workshop commencing promptly at 6:00pm.
This workshop is pending RACGP/ACRRM accreditation and participants will receive a statement of attendance for 3.5 hours of CPD (3 hours Reviewing Performance, 0.5 hours Educational Activities).
Learning Outcomes:
1. Prioritise the immediate management of the patient presenting disturbed behavioural disturbance
2. Contrast the life threatening medical conditions that may present with disturbed behaviour, severe agitation or risk of violence
3. Outline the pharmacological approaches available for managing severe agitation and preferred routes for administration
4. Discriminate elements of history and physical examination that can help differentiate medical from psychiatric causes of altered mental state.
5. Explain the clinical indications and legal requirements in relation to involuntary detention and/or restraint of a severely agitated patient
