Medical officers, General Practitioners, Nurses, Paramedics and all Medical Professionals working in a South Australian rural or regional emergency care setting are invited to attend this interactive, clinical case scenario based workshop.

This workshop will explore risk assessment, emergency management, detoxification, techniques for enhanced elimination, antidotes and definitive care for a range of drug poisonings and exposures encountered in clinical practice.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Differentiate the clinical presentation, life threats, stabilisation and investigation of the patient presenting with a history of acute poisoning.
  2. Discriminate the procedure for risk assessment in the patient with acute poisoning.
  3. Summarise the risk assessment, red flags and immediate management of the patient with life threatening poisoning.
  4. Contrast the options for detoxification and available antidotes for the management of life threatening poisoning.


    Accreditation: This workshop is pending accreditation with RACGP and ACRRM. Participants will receive a statement of attendance for 3.5 hours of CPD (3 hours Reviewing Performance, 0.5 hours Educational Activities).

    The workshop is FREE to attend and catering will be provided.
