Join us for an engaging workshop designed to strengthen the capacity of GPs, Registrars, Nurses and Allied Health Practitioners to provide effective care and support for people experiencing mental health challenges in rural settings.

This hybrid and practical session will focus on identifying and managing depression and suicide risk, while exploring the unique mental health challenges experienced in rural communities, including the impacts of natural disasters and other local factors on individual and community wellbeing.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

• Confidently assess and manage patients presenting with depression in a rural general practice or primary care setting.
• Identify individuals at risk of suicide and respond using regionally appropriate clinical pathways.
• Summarise mental health assessments and management plans to enhance continuity of care and mitigate risk.
• Access and disseminate up-to-date local mental health services and supports, including those activated during or after natural disasters.
• Apply a multidisciplinary, trauma-informed approach to mental health care, tailored to the unique needs of rural and regional communities.
