Understand how you can support your patients living with a disability in this online education session with the NDIA Community Engagement team. Presenters will discuss patient assessment criteria for disability support benefits and documentation process required to access NDIS support.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Understand how people living with a disability can be supported by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Assess patients who may benefit from disability supports and describe different types of support available
  • Discuss supporting evidence required for patients’ applications to meet NDIS disability criteria and access allied health services
  • Summarise the role of NDIS Community Partners such as local area coordinators, early childhood partners and identify appropriate referral pathways in rural/remote areas
  • Apply systems and processes in the practice setting to assist patients in navigating and accessing NDIS support
