Discover practical strategies to optimise early pregnancy screening, navigate local hospital referral networks, and embed culturally safe care for Aboriginal families. Equip your care team with the clinical insights and practical knowledge needed to deliver seamless, high-quality maternal care.

Learning outcomes:

• Identify barriers and implement practical strategies to promote earlier engagement with primary and antenatal care during preconception and the first trimester.
• Undertake comprehensive early gestation risk assessment, including psychosocial, mental health (EPDS), domestic violence, and pathology screening in accordance with SA Health guidance.
• Apply brief interventions, including the "5As" framework, for smoking cessation and lifestyle risks in obstetric patients and their support networks.
• Formulate local digital referral pathways to transition high-risk, complex regional obstetric patients between Port Pirie Hospital and tertiary networks (WCHN).
• Manage continuity of care via "GP Shared Care", clarifying clinical governance between regional primary care and regional/metropolitan birthing hospitals.
