This workshop will strengthen the confidence and capability of primary healthcare professionals to recognise, assess and respond to children, young people and families experiencing or affected by violence, abuse and neglect, while improving their understanding of local and alternative services, referral pathways and opportunities for collaborative support.

Learning outcomes:

  • Recognise key indicators of violence, abuse and neglect in children, young people and families, including domestic and family violence and sexual assault.
  • Apply appropriate approaches to assessment, child protection notification and initial response when concerns are identified.
  • Identify local and alternative referral pathways and collaborate effectively with relevant health, child protection, education and community services.
